Raingutter Regatta Rules & Info

Join us for the Pack 37 "America's Cup" on Friday, Nov. 8th

Registration: 6:45pm, Events: 7:00pm

Registration begins at 6:45pm - we would like to start the events promptly at 7pm as usual.  If you are able to arrive early to help set up it would be greatly appreciated.  Please note, the theme just serves as a guide on how to decorate your boat but not a requirement.

Rules

  1. Reshaping of the sail will be allowed (cup shaped design) and the scout is not required to use the mast.
  2. You are not required to use the rudder and the keel
  3. Re-designing the hull will be allowed as long as the hull is not made longer or wider.
  4. Catamaran styles are not allowed.

Hints

  • There are materials available to decorate your boat available at the Scout store, hobby stores and the ACE hardware store in Palatine on NW Hwy.

  • In the event of a catastrophic design flaw, the boat style we use is being discontinued, but there may be a few available at the above mentioned store or if you call Mrs. Bertermann.

Upcoming Events

God & Me – Four Tuesdays in November, 4-5pm: Pastor Roggow will be leading the scouts in their Emblems of Faith Achievement (#2) to earn their God & Me pin and their religious emblems of faith square knot badge.  This is an optional achievement for our den, however, please note, it cannot be earned after this year.   Next year, the boys will have an opportunity to earn their God & Family pin.  I understand that this can be difficult, but Pastor Grainer has asked that parents also attend the meetings.  Please let me know by October 28 if your child will be attending. A workbook will be needed for each scout which can be bought at the Scout Shop. The Pack does not pick up the cost of the workbooks used in the class, so that cost will need to be paid by the families.

Pack Meeting : Raingutter Regatta – November 8 or 9?: Start working on your boat if you haven’t already.  If you weren’t at the last pack meeting and need your boat, let me know and I can send one home from school, have it available in the St.P Cub Scout mailbox or just arrange a time for your to pick it up from my house.  This event requires very little woodworking skills and is very fun for the kids - Don’t miss it!!

Camp Lakota Day Trip – November 16, 10am-5pm :  Head out to Lakota for a day! Cub Scouts earn your BB & Archery belt-loops and pins! All participants can also enjoy geo-caching, hiking, and all of Lakota. Please bring water and a sack lunch. Climbing will be open weather permitting.  Register Now! $10pp  Please contact Emily Rinaldi (Lakota Director) with questions.  847-824-6877

Blue and Gold Banquet – February 24: A very meaningful afternoon for the scouts to celebrate their achievements with their families.
